Have you ever dreamed of turning something you love to sew, into a product you could sell? Maybe you have a sewn product idea but aren't sure where to begin. Or perhaps you're already sewing and selling your products and are wondering how to take your business to the next level.
Whether you want to sell on Etsy, launch your own website, or develop a sewn product for your existing business, there's a lot to consider before investing your time and money.
I know because I've been there!
From a Sewn Product Idea to a Real Business
I'm Shannon, the founder of Fairface Washcloths.
I started my business in 2011 with a simple sewn product idea. Over the years, I've turned that idea into a business, selling thousands upon thousands of washcloths through Etsy, my own website, and other sales channels.
Along the way, I've experienced many of the challenges that come with creating, producing, and selling sewn products.
I've cut and sewn my own products, sourced fabrics and supplies, hired contract seamstresses, researched cut-and-sew manufacturers, managed inventory, packaged and shipped orders, and worked through the challenges of growing a small product-based business.
I've also learned that having a great product idea is only one part of the process.
Understanding how your product will be made, what it will cost to produce, how to price it, and where to sell it can make a big difference in whether your idea becomes a sustainable business.
And sometimes, before investing more time or money into an idea, it helps to talk things through with someone who has actually done it.
That's why I created Cut, Sew, Grow.
Two Ways to Get Help With Your Sewn Product Idea
Whether you prefer personalized written feedback or a private conversation, Cut, Sew, Grow offers two ways to help you think through your sewn product idea before investing additional time or money.
Option 1: Sewn Product Evaluation
Personalized Written Evaluation | Delivered as a PDF
Have a sewn product idea you'd love some honest feedback on, but aren't sure whether you need a private consultation?
My Sewn Product Evaluation offers personalized written feedback based on my experience developing, producing, and selling sewn products.
You'll submit information about your product idea, answer a few questions, and provide photos or sketches if available.
I'll review your information and prepare a personalized PDF evaluation to help you think through your idea and make more informed decisions about your next steps.
Depending on your product and the information you provide, your evaluation may include feedback on:
Your sewn product idea and potential customers.
Fabric, materials, and construction considerations.
Production options and potential challenges.
Pricing and cost considerations.
Selling your product online.
Practical next steps to consider.
No consultation or appointment required! Your completed evaluation will be delivered by email as a PDF.
Pricing and ordering details coming soon!
Option 2: Maker Mentorship
$197 | 60-Minute Private Consultation
Do you have a sewn product idea you'd love to bring to market, but you're not sure where to begin?
Maybe you're wondering whether your idea is worth pursuing, how to get it made, what materials to use, or whether you could actually make money selling it.
Or perhaps you're already sewing and selling your products but need some direction on what to do next.
I'd love to help you think it through!
These private mentorship sessions are for makers and small-business owners who want honest, experienced feedback before investing more time or money into a sewn product idea.
What Can We Talk About?
Your session is a chance to discuss your specific sewn product idea, business questions, and the challenges you're working through.
Depending on where you are in the process, we can explore:
Your sewn product idea and the customers you want to reach.
Choosing fabrics, materials, and supplies.
Cutting, sewing, and small-batch production options.
Hiring contract seamstresses or exploring manufacturing.
Understanding your production costs and pricing.
Selling your products on Etsy or through your own website.
Packaging, inventory, and fulfilling orders.
What to consider before investing in larger quantities or expanding production.
Practical next steps for moving your idea forward.
You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. In fact, that's part of the reason for having the conversation!
What to Expect From Your Session
This is a private, one-on-one conversation focused on your sewn product idea and the questions that matter most to you.
I'll share my experience, offer honest feedback, and help you think through potential challenges, opportunities, and next steps.
My goal isn't to sell you a complicated business program or promise that every idea will be successful. It's to help you make more informed decisions before investing additional time or money into your product.
Sometimes you just need to talk things through with someone who understands what it takes to turn a sewn product idea into something you can actually sell.
